Suprise!

I came home the other day and much to my (and the doggies) suprise, there were presents for them in the mailbox! Sister KimBERLY sent some love to the pups all the way from Washington DC in the form of TOYS!!!! And you know they love them some toys!!

Me: You want some of this?? Do ya? Do ya?

Kipp: Hell yeah I do! Muah ah ah..... It's mine, it's all mine!!!!

Kipp: Wait, where'd she come from? WTF mom, you're just gonna sit there and watch?!

Roxy: I may be small, but I'm WAY more feisty than you son!

Kipp: Fine! I'll just go over here and get this other one. Mom, will you throw this for me?

Roxy: Not if I have anything to do with it!

Roxy: Gimme gimme gimme!!!

Kipp: Nooooooooo, it's slipping.......

Roxy: Hey Kipp, do you smell that? It's the sweet smell of victory, and ya know what? It tastes goooooood too! Nom nom nom....

Sorry for the terrible pictures. I don't know how to edit the green out of their eyes and some of the other pictures I took didn't download for some reason and I deleted the card already. Yeah, I'm still learning....

The Flatirons in Boulder

We had a busy, busy weekend this last weekend (although it seems like every weekend is way too busy lately). We started out by taking a nice little hike on Saturday, ~ 6 miles, with some bc friends. What better way is there to start out a wonderful weekend than that???

Here we go, down the trail!

I think Kipp really likes Ouzo, he was following him around like he was his idol. I mean, what dog doesn't want to be like Ouzo?!

Kipp was a very good boy, even with the other dogs as distractions. He listened well, and made me a proud momma! Although he didn't always appreciate the fact that I kept calling him back if he was out of my site....

We found a river!! Well, what was left of a river. But they didn't care they were just happy to romp in the water!

This is what happens when you get out the magical ball. Full attention!

Ouzo looking soooooo happy SOMEONE finally got the hint and let his ball free from it's captivated state in his mom's backpack! He kept sniffing the bag, because he SO knew what was in there!
Roxy's shake-shake-shake!

Ouzo being handsome

Roxy and Kipp - intent that if you stare at it long enough, it will get thrown.....

Resting and drying out from the creek. Hmmm, makes me wonder why there is only 4. I know we started with 5.......

Rox and Kipp checking out what the others are up to.

What's Ouzo up to? Just exporing. Over here mom!!! Look at me!

On the way back, they went straight for the creek. BIG suprise!

Throw it!

Being sexy on a rock.

Showing off their posing skills. Actually, the dogs found this wonderful photo op and we just took advantage of it! I didn't even put them over there!

We couldn't stop them if we wanted to! Look at sneaky Craig!

Top shot of Taz, he is so sweet. He was just about to love on his mom right after this pic was taken!

Kipp and Craig frolicking in the grass

Ouzo being the man, and posing for some pictures

Taz taking in the sun, looking tired and ready to head back!

THE END!!!

How to spend your 4th of July weekend when you're all alone.

Fix something you've been wanting to fix since you moved into your house over 2 years ago!!!! The ugliest. kitchen. ever.

I realize this has nothing to do with my wonderful dogs, but I am so proud of this, that I just HAD to share it with you!

This is the 'before' picture of my kitchen. It was originally taken because we were getting a new dishwasher and I wanted to take before and afters of that (but I forgot to take the after-Duh!).

Pretty stinkin' boring, eh? I love, love, love color but this was the only room in the entire house that didn't really need work done to it when we bought this place. So it stayed as they had it. If only they could see it now!!!!!

BAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is my kitchen now. I was going for a Tuscan theme, don't really know if I hit the nail on the head but I like it either way. The color is Mango Madness and I don't really think they could've come up with a better name!

I need to update the photos above the sink because they no longer match, maybe I'll put a painting there, I'm not really sure yet. Suggestions anyone?

Notice the bottle of wine and wine glass on the counter? I needed some help 'getting into character' while I was putting stuff back/organizing everything after painting, and I think the Cabernet Sauvignon did the trick!

Actually, now that I look at the pictures....If you look at the end of the cabinet you can see my bc calendar hanging and directly underneath that is all our dogs treats. Man, they're spoiled! So ha! I did manage to make this post semi-sorta-but-not-really about dogs!

What's the big deal??

Let's face it, my dogs are hairy. (Go figure!) Even being smooth coats, they shed like crazy. Well, Kipp not so much, but Rockstar rivals some long haired dogs I've owned. And she was ready for a grooming...about a month ago, but let's not get into that right now. I have a brush for her, but it's one of those slicker brushes and I think it hurts Roxy's skin when I use it so I've been avoiding the situation entirely.

I've been trying to avoid paying over $50 for a brush, but I couldn't take it anymore and went ahead and bit the bullet. What makes this brush worth $50 I ask!!!

EVERYTHING!!!!

First, since I figure I'll be sitting on the floor here for a while, I better get all the tools necessary for the task....

Dog treats and beer of course!

Ok Rockstar-you're up first! This is the enthusiastic face I get in return....

Ok buddy, let's do you now! Yup, he's really good at taking lessons from Roxy.

But dun da da!!!!!!!! A smiley happy Ru is the final result and lots of hair gone!! She looks MUCH better now and I can't believe how well she did. She didn't give me a yucky face once while being groomed, which means she could care less when I use this brush! WooHoo! I looooove this brush!

The Final Results: 2 Happy, Shiny, Soft, Smooth doggies!

Now I know why so many people have forked over the $$ to get this brush. It comes highly recommended and doesn't disappoint!

Better late than never.

Here are my 2 with their prizes from this last weekend! Sorry it took so long to get these up, but I've been busy trying to keep Kipp entertained without letting him play too much. And that is a challenge!! :)

Roxy seems rather unimpressed it took me so long to show off her awesomeness!

(And please excuse my lame white walls for the backdrop. I am just now getting started on my painting project with the house and haven't made it to the living room just yet!)

Yep, she's mad. How could I let such wonderous accomplishments take so long to share with the world?? Ugh, what a bad doggie mommy I am!

Kipp is exactly the opposite. He was ecstatic that he got to wear his medal and show off his goods!!! Just look at how proud he is of himself. I love this dog!!!!

Kipp: I'm such a good boy! I'm such a good boy! I'm such a good boy! I'm such a good boy!

This is a different white wall in our living room that is currently housing all of their accomplishments. Rockstar's picture is on your right, and Kipp's is on the left. All the plaques they've earned are below their pics, and their medals are hanging from the shelves. (Click on the picture to see a larger view.)

This coming weekend on Sunday is our next competition and I think Kipp is going to be just fine to play. He hasn't limped at ALL in 2 full days and he is back and ready for action. He is completely back to his old self, bringing us toys at 5am to play with, wrestling with Roxy even more than he used to (just because he can I think!), and his great puppy spirit is back. I missed my crazy Kipp these last 2 weeks. Serious Kipp just isn't the same.

We're off to the park now, I hope you are too!!!

Ripping it off did NOT work...

My poor Kipp. Today was his second trip to the vet in less than 2 months. I don't even know how it happened, but he managed to split his nail, twice. Once up and down, and once side to side. It's been a week and a half since he did it, and it still hasn't fallen off. So off to the vet we went.

First, the vet wiggled it a little bit and tried to just yank it out. NOT HAPPENING! Kipp let out the saddest yelp and the vet quickly reassessed the situation and decided the only way it was coming out was to cut it off. Also, very painful for my little boy but he took it like a champ and now has a bandage around his foot and he is sleeping, peacefully, under my feet. He hasn't left my side since the vet's office. He is putting full weight on it, so I'm hoping that it will heal quickly and he'll be back in action in no time.

I am giving him a supplement daily to improve his nail growth and am hoping that will help for this to never, ever happen again. And he's getting lots and lots of treats. Because after that, he deserves them!!

He's still the man!

This weekend we had another disc dog competition in Fort Collins and Jeff and I were debating on whether or not to run Kipp. He had been doing well Saturday, and he woke up Sunday wanting to play. So I decided to run him, but Jeff would only run Rockstar this time. Kipp was soooo happy to be out and playing again I think he made the most of it!

We took home 3rd in the Intermediate Division! He went home with a bronze medal, a plaque, dog treats, a portable water bowl for dogs, and a frisbee. He also took home the honor of having the highest scoring round of the entire division! That's my boy!!

Rockstar also didn't do too shabby. She and I took home 2nd in Novice, barely beating out the third place team. Our scores were tied, but between the 2 teams we had the round with the highest score so we got 2nd! WooHoo!!! She went home with a silver medal, a plaque, dog treats, a bag of dog food, a portable water bowl for doggies, and a frisbee.
She also took 4th with Jeff who was just barely nudged out of placing! Which means he almost beat me so I better step up and get to practicing!!

**Pictures to come later with the dogs and their prizes. The batteries are dead in my camera and it seems like they take forever to charge. But I will post them and also some pics of what we did to keep Kipp from licking his foot....He he he. :)
