My poor Kipp. Today was his second trip to the vet in less than 2 months. I don't even know how it happened, but he managed to split his nail, twice. Once up and down, and once side to side. It's been a week and a half since he did it, and it still hasn't fallen off. So off to the vet we went.
First, the vet wiggled it a little bit and tried to just yank it out. NOT HAPPENING! Kipp let out the saddest yelp and the vet quickly reassessed the situation and decided the only way it was coming out was to cut it off. Also, very painful for my little boy but he took it like a champ and now has a bandage around his foot and he is sleeping, peacefully, under my feet. He hasn't left my side since the vet's office. He is putting full weight on it, so I'm hoping that it will heal quickly and he'll be back in action in no time.
I am giving him a supplement daily to improve his nail growth and am hoping that will help for this to never, ever happen again. And he's getting lots and lots of treats. Because after that, he deserves them!!

Ouch, poor Kipp. That sounds like it was really painful. Hopefully now it will heal quickly though and he will be back to enjoying his disc play real soon.

Thanks for the happy thoughts for my boy! He could use them. :) He didn't seem to limp at ALL today, which is great!!!! I'm excited that he is finally feeling better.
